Diamastone®, Stone Italiana and Quarella are ideal for water jet cutting, with quite spectacular results. Intricate patterns can be cut to form pieces of art that can be installed as feature areas in applications such as corporate logos on walls and floors. Using an AutoCAD system, you can create a pattern which can be reproduced. The high-pressure water provides the cleanest and sharpest edge to allow for a very thin grout joint or brass strip inserts.
Diamastone® and Stone Italiana and Quarella Quartz are resistant to cracking and chipping, staining and scratching.
It is always recommended to use a cutting board as the quartz surface will dull the knife blade.
Diamastone®, Stone Italiana and Quarella are more heat resistant than most stone surfaces. However, not unlike stone material, sudden and rapid temperature changes can affect the surface. Therefore, we suggest that hot pots and pans not be placed directly on the surface. We recommend the use of hot pads or trivets when using electrical cooking appliance and hot pans. Although our products are deemed heat resistant, damage can occur from extremely hot pots or repeated exposure to high heat.
Diamastone®, Stone Italiana and Quarella are non-combustible surfaces and rate as Class A-1 according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards.
Only the acids between pH 1-3 and alkalis between pH 11-14 cause damage on the Diamastone®, Stone Italiana or Quarella Quartz surface. Please note that the acids and alkali of these values are, dangerous and harmful and are not readily available outside of laboratory conditions. When exposed to acids and alkali of other values for less than 24 hours, no trace of any damage has been observed.
Neutral detergents should be used in daily care.
Diamastone®, Stone Italiana and Quarella Quartz are non-porous and are perfectly suited for kitchen and food preparation areas. Quartz surfacing is free of mold and bacteria; and therefore is ideal for such applications in hotels, restaurants and homes.
Butt joining the tiles is not recommended.
Recommended grout joints to be 2-5mm for the products 300x300mm size, whereas 5mm for 600x600mm products.
Some have installed Diamastone®, Stone Italiana and Quarella products outdoors, but we do not recommend the application as our materials have not been approved for prolonged exposure to atmospheric agents and UV rays.
