STONE ITALIANA’S QUARTZ ENVIRONMENTAL FACTS

Since 1979, Stone Italiana has been dedicated to excellence, both in terms of product design and quality and of sensitivity towards issues such as the environment and workers’ safety and health.

In 2010 Stone Italiana had finalized the implementation of an integrated management system for QUALITY, ENVIRONMENT and OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY complying with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OSHAS 18001:2007, which will be the result of a number of responsibility actions already taken by the Company.

ECO – RESPONSIBILITY

Its manufacturing process and continuous research efforts have allowed Stone Italiana to recycle and make the most of industrial solid waste such as glass, mirror and granite. Now, more than ever, the Company is experimenting with combinations featuring different materials, with a view to recycling them.

Furthermore, the amount of polymeric binder contained in the product is only 7 to 8 % and part of it comes from renewable vegetable sources obtained from non-Genetically Modified and Identity-Preserved plants.

BIO – RESPONSIBILITY

Stone Italiana surfaces are safe for man and the environment, as they do not release VOCs (harmful Volatile Organic Compounds).

Thus, Stone Italiana is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children & Schools (USA) certified. Stone Italiana surfaces are intrinsically BACTERIOSTATIC and “food contact proof”. As a result, they are suitable for household use (kitchen countertops) and food preparation areas and are FDA (USA Food & Drugs Administration) approved to meet the NSF 51 standard.

SUSTAINABLE RESPONSIBILITY

Stone Italiana manufacturing processes protect the environmental balance and comply with the most stringent environmental and occupational regulations. Stone Italiana has been continuously committed to minimizing the use of harmful substances in the manufacturing process, as well as to controlling VOC emissions, reducing waste, using recyclable packaging, reducing energy and water consumption and recycling process water. Stone Italiana can contribute towards the achievement of the LEED certification of sustainability, being a member of the GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL of ITALY.

Stone Italiana’s sensitivity for environmentally sustainable production provides some collections containing recycled items coming from post-production or post-consumer, they are identified with the Recycling Components logo.
